Why Coex?
What does COEX mean?
We manufacture specialized barrier bottles through a process called "co-extrusion". Co-extrusion combines different types of plastic material together. This gives our bottles the strength necessary to contain aggressive chemicals (e.g. pesticides) that would otherwise deteriorate and deform other packaging solutions.
How does it work?
At a high-level, our bottles have three layers that work together:
-
There is an outer layer composed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE makes our bottles strong, durable and lightweight. HDPE also protects the contents of our bottles from moisture.
-
A tie or adhesive layer binds the outer and the inner barrier layers.
-
There is an inner barrier layer that protects the bottle contents from external agents (e.g. oxygen) which extends their shelf life. This barrier layer also resists aggressive chemicals that would otherwise deteriorate normal plastic packaging.
Benefits
Our co-extruded barrier plastic bottles have the following benefits:
-
Lightweight, durable and impact resistant during filling, storage and transportation.
-
Resistant to aggressive chemicals such as pesticides, and are the globally accepted standard for packaging hazardous chemicals.
-
Extends product shelf life by protecting against oxygen, water vapour, UV rays and other external agents.
-
Safety screw cap designed for pesticide use as well as detection of bottle tampering.
-
Quality control tested, such as tests to check against leaks, bottle durability and barrier integrity.
